Welcome to Therapy!
For many of us life brings about unexpected changes and loss. In the midst of change we often find ourselves struggling to sleep, eat, or make the healthy choices we wish we would. We may find ourselves shutting down, numbing out, or we keep busy, never slowing down. We try everything within our strength to ignore, run from, or avoid our pain. What would happen if we stopped, found a safe person, in a safe space to turn and face our pain and begin to heal?

Within my work I aspire to be that safe person, creating together with my clients that safe place. In working together, standing side-by-side we can turn to face the pain, heartache, and anxieties that life creates.

The journey of healing takes great courage but together it is possible. When you are ready to begin I encourage you to reach out. Let's begin exploring together.
About Me
Hello!

My name is Alyse and I am so grateful you have found yourself here. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist both in the state of Idaho and California. I received a B.A. in Youth Ministry from William Jessup University in 2013, and an M.A. in Counseling from Western Seminary in 2019. I enjoy working with individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma and life transitions. While I’ve worked with people of all ages I enjoy working with young adults, college age and beyond.

Since before I can remember I have always been so interested in the workings of the human heart and mind. What makes one human and how does our biology play into our minds and our hearts? Do they all work together? What if they feel like they're working against each other? What about spirituality, does that have a place? These are the types of questions that drew me into this field.

As a Christian I enjoy integrating my faith into my work with clients but have worked with people of all backgrounds. As a California transplant to the great state of Idaho I enjoy exploring the beauty of the outdoors and experiencing God’s promises as the winter months turn to spring, to summer, to fall and back into winter again. It is my greatest belief that God is our ultimate healer in life and He desires to partner with us in our journey of growth and healing.

I hope that as you explore my page you might get a sense on if I feel like a good fit for you and if at any point you may be unsure feel free to reach out and we can chat to see!
Trauma
I get it, that thing happened and it's hard to think about it and yet it feels like it never goes away. It almost feels like it's become who you are and you wonder if anything you do will ever help it go away. Ignoring it doesn't work, thinking about it is too overwhelming, and even when you try to talk about it your body kicks into overdrive and it feels like you're drowning. The truth is, it doesn't define you, it isn't who you are, and there is hope in getting the help you need to heal. Using EMDR therapy we can take control of all that feels lost.
Anxiety

Anxiety can be debilitating and frightening. At times showing up in unexpected situations or ways within our bodies. We may notice our heart feels funny or the world seems far away. We may even experience anxiety so bad we fear we are losing ourselves. In my work I utilize a variety of tools to help you understand and begin to manage your anxiety, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. Together we can begin to name and take control of your anxiety once and for all.
Life Transitions
From birth, childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, parenting etc, life is always moving. With each passing stage comes adjustment. In some of these transitions we encounter roadblocks. Points along our way that threaten to stop us in our tracks. In these moments we find the things that we never thought about yesterday now appear to be a chore. We find ourselves confused, struggling to know ourselves. Working together we can begin to explore what is standing in your way as we clear the path to continue moving forward.
